Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Global Engineering group in Owensville, MO at our Field Analytics office. The role of the Chemical Engineer is to provide high quality chemical engineering and analytical support for emissions testing projects at Monsanto crop protection and seeds manufacturing facilities.

The person in this role will serve as a key technical resource to support emission testing efforts that affect our facility's freedom to operate - capacity, cost, and environmental compliance. In this role you will deliver efficient engineering emissions testing plans and reports for operating facilities. You will be a part of dynamic projects with the ability to support multiple sites and multiple projects concurrently. Scope of work includes development of test plans, standard operating procedures, process improvement opportunities and support for plant operations through emissions testing programs. Project deliverables include development of reports, validation of test results, standard operating procedures, and on-site field support for testing, sampling and calibration of Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) instruments.
Principal Duties and
Responsibilities:
Support air emission team and facility operations to identify opportunities for improvements in capacity while meeting air permit and emissions monitoring criteria
Develop process information required for emission studies and evaluations
Prepare emissions testing reports and test plans
Provide field assistance when conducting test plans
Serve as Quality Manager for State emissions accreditation; review and revise documents, prepare audits, work with external auditors, implement changes to quality systems based on audit findings
Prepare and maintain quality system and portions of the quality manual
Support emission test preparation by selecting specific reagents, glassware and other analysis equipment and validate for methods specified to perform required tests
Consult with outside laboratories for specific methods and analysis.
Prepare emissions test reports; review data, lab analysis results and facility data in compiling reports
Perform Reliable Accuracy Test Audits (RATAs) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
Operate CEMS instruments for RATAs
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
M.S. or B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering
5 or more years of emissions testing experience in chemical process facilities
Chemical facility operations knowledge and experience
Special Skills:
Knowledge of Clean Air Act and air emissions regulations and permitting
Basic knowledge of process safety standards and general industry standards
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent problem solving skills and a high degree of personal initiative
Ability to work in small group team environment and balance multiple project demands
Process modeling skills desirable
