Manufacturing Supervisor

1. Responsible for first-line direction of non-exempt employees involved in print production, bindery finishing, or shipping and receiving operations.
2. Reviews production schedules, material and manpower resources.
3. Assigns employees to maximize production objectives, maintain quality and attain output requirements and seamless communications across shifts and departments and vendors.
4. Informs assigned employees of production and material problems and coordinates with support groups to resolve problems affecting schedules. Troubleshoots when necessary. Works with team members to resolve issues and requests additional resources when necessary.
5. Participates in establishing and modifying operational methods and processes by recommending changes in materials, equipment and procedures. Ensures that departmental goals, including: safety, quality, continuous improvement, and KPIs; are established and met.
6. Maintains a variety of reports, records and production documentation to reflect schedules, performance, methods and the like specifically including expenditures and labor costs to insure compliance with department and plant budgets.
7. Achieves a high level of employee efficiency and morale through leadership and the use of sound management and human relations principals.
8. Maintains thorough knowledge of all manufacturing processes, ISO, SOPs, continuous improvement, equipment, safety and other regulatory requirements.
9. Works closely with customer service, scheduling, manufacturing departments, and other locations and vendors to ensure timely production and delivery of customer product.
10. Administers policies and procedures and recommends changes as necessary.
11. Selects and recommends candidates for hire, promotion, recognition and disciplinary action keeping appropriate documentation.
12. Follows positive employee practices. promotes a positive work environment, sound training programs and adherence to policies and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in business, manufacturing, Engineering or related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience in a similar position is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
Broad and strong technical knowledge in one of the following areas is preferred: adhesive binding, stitching, fulfillment, or Pick and pack.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage people.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization are required.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer systems is required including Microsoft Office (Word,Excel) eMail/calendar programs such as Outlook, gMail or Lotus Notes. Access is a plus. Web-based learning program experience a plus. Demonstrated comfort and ability to learn new systems is a plus.
Bias for process focus and the demonstrated ability to drive process improvement. Must be able to shift focus and re-prioritize as the situation dictates.
Must be able to drive for results.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
